What Is The Purpose Of The Event?
Our goal for Day at the Lake is to provide an opportunity for people of all ages with disabilities and their families to have a day to get away to the lake. It’s a great day of fishing that also includes lunch and several other fun activities. Ever since the first day we started DAL it has been a blessing to serve these families and workers who take care of and serve these wonderful people.
DAL is a partnership between Blue Mountain Fish and Game Association and First Baptist Church Allentown. We love working together and our church feels blessed to have made such great friends over the years with the Association members. They are great people!
What Happens during The Event?
Every participant at DAL is connected with a host that assists them in fishing and taking part in all the fun stuff occurring throughout the day (lunch, visits from Tootsee the clown and other guests, silent auction, and a trophy presentation for all participants). All the fish are weighed in by 12:00 before the trophy presentation (If participants have not caught their limit then they may continue to fish until 1 PM). The goal is for everyone to catch their limit!
What are the needs for the day of the event and how can i get involved
There are four ways to get involved with Day at the Lake:
- Be a Host! Interact with special needs individuals and their families. Bait a hook and start fishing!
- Be part of the Food, Supplies, and Fun Team! Provide some supplies or food that are needed for the event (Please contact Pastor Chuck @ 610-432-3414 for a list of needs).
- Be part of the Prayer Team! Spend time on your knees praying for the event. The day of the event, set aside time to pray.
- Be part of the Silent Auction team! Donate a gift card, or maybe a basket to help curb the costs of the event for the silent auction on the day of the event.
- Be part of the Setup/Breakdown Team! Take part in setting up and breaking down tables, tents, and preparing for and cleaning up after the event.
