CHURCH COVENANT
Having been led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God, to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior, having made profession of our faith, and having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, we do now, in the presence of God, His angels, and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another, as one body in Christ.
We promise, as God shall enable us, to walk together in Christian love; to exercise Christian care and watchfulness over one another; to participate in one another’s joys; to endeavor with tenderness and sympathy to bear one another’s sorrows; to submit ourselves in obedience to biblical teaching concerning reconciliation in cases of offense or conflict; to strive for the advancement of our church in spiritual knowledge and holiness; to sustain its worship, ordinances, disciplines and doctrines; to contribute cheerfully to the support of its ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the gospel throughout the whole world; to avail ourselves of the privilege of prayer both for ourselves and for others.
We further promise to maintain family and private devotions; to educate our children in the Christian faith; to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances; to walk prudently in the world; to be just in our dealings, faithful in our engagements, and exemplary in our behavior; to abstain from every form of evil, to be faithful in our relationship to Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord and to live for His glory.
We moreover promise that when we move from this place we will, as soon as possible, unite with a local church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word.
