Associate Pastor of Family Ministries - David Zimmerman
As Associate Pastor of Family Ministries, David Zimmerman is responsible for coordinating discipleship ministries from birth through college. Though he is relatively new to First Baptist Church (July 2006), he is not new to the Lehigh Valley. In fact, he grew up only about twenty minutes away from the church. He is passionate about the importance of discipleship in the church as he recognizes the impact godly leaders have had in his own life. His desire is to provide the same kind of modeling, care and teaching that he received as a child and young person. This passion also drives him to challenge others to build into the lives of the children and young people around them.
Pastor Dave brings a variety of experience to First Baptist, having served as a secondary school Bible and Social Studies teacher in the Lehigh Valley and later for six years as a missionary with BCM International in Glasgow, Scotland. He holds a B.S. in Bible and a B.S. in Secondary Education from Philadelphia Biblical University. David has also earned an M.A in Christian Thought from Biblical Theological Seminary.
David met his wife, Esther, while studying at Philadelphia College of Bible and they married in 1992. Esther is currently International Director of Children's Ministry for BCM International (www.bcmintl.org). Esther graduated from PBU with B.S. degrees in Bible and Secondary Education (English). She has since earned an M.Ed. in Training Design and Development from Penn State University.
David and Esther enjoy the three children with whom God has entrusted them: Rebekah, Daniel, and Abigail.
